Short Course at Heidelberg University

On December 3-4, 2024, Prof. Dr. Eva Gutheil and her team successfully conducted a short course at Heidelberg University, co-funded by HGS as part of SPP 2419 HyCAM.

Open to all SPP 2419 members, the course not only covered key aspects of the SPP 2419 sub-projects but also fostered collaboration among HyCAM members by encouraging the exchange of ideas and experiences.

Agenda of the event:

Seminar at RWTH Aachen University

On July 31, 2024, Dr. Thomas Kaiser from Technische Universität Berlin was invited to the Institute for Combustion Technology, RWTH Aachen University to present his research as part of the Priority Program 2419 – Project 06 – ENERGIZE: Adjoint-based and additive manufacturing-enabled optimization of hydrogen combustion systems, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) – German Research Foundation.

Dr Kaiser’s seminar, entitled “Advancing Combustion Research through Linear Mean Field Analysis”, provided an overview of current research in his group which utilizes linear (mean field) analysis to study flow unsteadiness phenomena in various configurations with a strong focus on combustion dynamics.
Additionally, he shared his perspective on the potential of this methodology for controlling flow unsteadiness in technical flows, as well as the challenges that arise in its application.

Symposium at Milano Convention Centre

From 21st July to 26th July 2024, several SPP2419 HyCAM members had the pleasure to attend the 40th CI’s International Symposium of The Combustion Institute: “Emphasizing Energy Transition”, held at Allianz MiCo – Milano Convention Centre, Italy.

It has been a great occasion to learn about the recent technical updates in the field of combustion, and engage in fruitful discussions on the role of combustion science in the ongoing energy transition and on the importance of collaborations between industry and fundamental research.
